Last month Next Level Pictures was contracted to Produce a variety of album promotion content for Interscope recording artists, All Time Low. On May 22nd I hit the road to Direct the promos. I have had a very solid relationship with All Time Low ever since I directed the documentary portion of their 2010 DVD release; "Straight to DVD." Since the DVD's, release, I am hearing that it is just on the fringe of going DVD Gold which is pretty exciting. That being said, they asked Interscope to send me back out to bang out some promos for their new, highly anticipated album, "Dirty Work." When I recieved the call from Interscope, I was extremely excited at the news of potentially working with these guys again. Last year, All Time Low was on an Indie record label, and now they are riding with the big dogs. Interscope openly gave me the oppurtunity to pitch them ideas for some promos (which they later approved) which I am very, very excited to release later on this month. The promos are currently in post production over at Sleepless City Productions with my main man Noah Shulman heading the shop. The jobs I was hired on to direct were the following:

1x Live Music Video
3x Album Promo's (with my approved concepts)
Interscope gave me a 2 week window on the road with All Time Low in order to shoot all of this content. Since I am shooting the majority of the footage myself, times can get pretty crazy. My scheduel everyday was the following: Wake up at 9am, go through footage until 1pm, shoot interviews 1pm-5pm, shoot backstage antics 5pm-10pm, shoot aftershow activities, 10pm-1am, and then dump/organize all of the footage from the day until about 3am. This was the routine for 14 days straight. Whew...Below is the only BTS picture from this shoot, and it's me with my 2 run-and-gun weapons of choice, the Sony EX-1, and the Canon 7D. I use the Sony to capture the bands spuratic antics, and the 7D for more cinematic b-roll.
For the majority of the days, I would DP the interviews myself and bring in assistants from every surrounding city. While the tour went through New Jersey, I was able to get Khalid on board to shoot some interviews for the Best Buy and Journey's interviews (below). Go figure, the day Khalid and our crew came out, we were at the most corporate, un-interesting concert venue ever. Luckily we found a "make-up room" which was literally 10ft x 10ft to knock out the interviews. The one thing to know about shooting promos with touring artists is that conditions are NEVER ideal, but you have to find a way to make it work. On top of the poor shooting conditions, rounding up the band it like hearding sheep...That same day we also shot the band on greenscreen for the promo intros. Unfortunately I cannot release any of those images yet. Overall the day went very smooth, and we are very happy with the way the interviews came out. Below are some frame-grabs from the promos:
