Its been a crazy few weeks!! As soon as we got back from our shoot in Norway Jonathan Bregel, Susan Modaress, and I took off to New Orleans, Louisiana to cover the Gulf oil spill once again. Once that shoot was wrapped I flew from LA to Dallas, Texas to DP a pilot for abc. I can't reveal too much about the show as of yet but I can tell you that it looks AMAZING!! Adam (director) and I collaborated very well together and were always on the same page visually. Its always nice to work with an intuitive director that is equally as passionate and determined as I am. The entire crew worked hard in making sure all the shots looked & felt exactly as planned and we are all very proud with the outcome. We shot for a total of 4 days at MPS studios in Dallas with 6 5D mark 2's all equipped with L-series Primes & Zooms.

  

Our 3 main cameras were ran to Panansonic BT-LH1760 17" monitors using the Black Magic HDMI to HDSDI convertor box. The other three cameras were ran to Marshall 7" monitors using Kanex HDMI splitters. These splitters are the perfect tool to get two hdmi signals out of a 5D or 7D. We also couldn't find a HDMI cable that was longer than 10 Feet so these splitters also worked as extenders for the cables.

Our "A" camera (main camera) was on an eyeliner which (For those of you who've never used one) is AWESOME!! Its a camera accessory that puts a reflection of another person in front of the lens so that your subject looks into the lens comfortably. 

We wanted our "B" camera to be directly above our subjects face so I decided to go with the Kessler Pocket Jib and Revolution head. This not only allowed us to quickly mount the camera overhead, but also operate it using the Oracle Controller from the other side of the setup. Anytime we had a new subject come in we would tweak the shot with the Oracle controller and never touched the camera.
