Last week I was brought on by The Thrill Mill to shoot promotional material for the clothing brand Yummie Tummie. I shot with two 5D's. One was set up on the Kessler Cineslider and Oracle & Elektra drive system shooting a motion controlled timelapse of a photo shoot, and the other was on our Zacuto hand held rig. This was my first time using the Kessler Cineslider and all went well and the client was blown away with the result! I honestly haven't been this happy about a product since the first time I shoot DSLR. Learning motion controlled Timelapse is like learning photography all over again. I want to thank Tom Guilmette & Eric Kessler for being a huge help with learning the system. If anyone reading this purchased the Kessler Oracle system and wants to learn everything about it, I recommend checking out Tom's Blog. Jonathan and I will be in Norway for the next few weeks shooting the Risor Music Festival and we'll try and update everyone as soon as we get a chance. Nice. Were you using the Hercules head on the K-Pod system as well? If so, how do you like it?
Thanks Daniel! Yes I was using the Hercules head but not the K-Pod sticks. I love my Hercules! Its rugged, heavy duty, and smooth (everything you need to get the job done right). and the Cineslider mounts flush to it which is nice! I've never used the K-Pod legs but I've heard some great things about them.
The iPad rigged to the RED is an interesting idea, but... HOW? It doesn't look ergonomically convenient, so what is it about this setup you liked, versus just having an assistant enter notes into the iPad directly?

It was very convenient in that the camera stayed stationary the entire shoot. This way the agency, clients, and director could all view the storyboards whenever they wanted too. If I had an assistant entering notes on the iPad, the agency, clients, and director would have to hassle him every time they would want to look at it which would be a major inconvenience. It was much easier having it in one place so everyone would know where it was at all times.
