There For Tomorrow "Deathbed" - Music Video

Director: Jonathan Bregel

Producer(s): Jonathan Bregel & Khalid Mohtaseb

Director of Photography: Khalid Mohtaseb

Production Designer: Joe Sciacca

Production Company: Next Level Pictures

This is the third video that I (Jonathan Bregel) have had the pleasure of producing for the band There For Tomorrow. The first music video I ever produced and shot was for this band about 2 years ago while I was still in film school. Hopeless somehow trusted me with the idea and gave me $5,000 to produce the video. I had never had a budget for ANYTHING before so I really didn't know what I was doing. Luckily for me, I had a very good group of friends who I worked a lot of spec shoots with and we were able to pull it off...somehow. If interested, check out the video which again was the first music video I had ever really had anything to do with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_GvUqVz3ZM

1 year later, Hopeless Records came back to me for There For Tomorrow's 2nd video for the song "A Little Faster." At this point, I had graduated from film school and was freelancing as a DP in NYC so I had a lot more experience in the industry than the first video. Between their first video and this video, I met Khalid and we had been working on many projects together in NYC. The video called for a very literal concept so that is what we went through with. 1 year later, about 3 weeks ago from today, Hopeless and TFT came back to us again with an idea for a music video that would be much more abstract.  2 weeks later, we were shooting the video on location in the NYC/NJ area.

Below are some screen-grabs from the footage along with several production stills with some explanations of our setups/workflow. The video will be released most likely in the beginning of June.

For this video we decided to shoot with the Canon DSLR's. We had 2x 5D's for CineSlider, sticks and handheld and 1x 7D for steadicam. Since this was a quick 1 day shoot, we shot 3 cameras. The main reason being that we had to get a lot of shots in a short period of time or we would have been kicked out of the location. Again, the combination of the Kessler CineSlider and Steadicam prooved victorious. The amount of beautiful coverage in a short period of time that you can get with these 2 things is almost un-fair. Below is Khalid operating from the CineSlider with his monster 5D rig. Also pictured below was our C-Camera which was operated by Clayton Combe. This was one of the most solid Zacuto rigs I've ever used.

Other than just camera stuff, there was a lot of tricky rigging that had to be done in this location, especially tricky because it is a historic landmark which we absolutely couldn't scuff up. On our tech scout, Key Grip John Moustakas came up with a nice rig for us to hang all of our prop-lighting from which worked out great.

I have to give a big shout out to our production designer Joe Sciacca and art director Ahmed Mohtaseb for doing such a great job filling the location out. Everyone really came together on this shoot and I feel that we have one of the most solid teams around for a production company that is just starting out. We are very excited for the release of this video as it is more stylized then their past videos. Below are a few more random shots from the shoot. Big thanks to Adam Elmakias for flying out to NYC to shoot our press images along with good friend Ed Chan for some solid set photos.

Check back soon for more updates.

Can't wait to see the video, really liked the other two. Looks like a great combination of kit, location, crew... and obviously a lot of talent. Stills look really good too. Glenn.
